Napping and A Weekend Off

My first two weeks at Gallaudet University had my invested my energy into understanding the humidity, learning the public transportation system, and discovering how helpful napping is. The last time I truly napped was when I was in kindergarten. We had those "mats" and we all knew our scheduled nap time. As the day progressed to the scheduled napping time-we turned the lights off and took our mats. Sometimes we giggle to each other for no reason or we'll try and talk to others quietly without getting caught by the teacher. There were days where I threw a fit just because I didn't want to nap. That changed majorly when I first realized the luxury of napping in college years. I mean you could just shrug off the idea of sleeping early while knowing that you have the 50 minutes in-between your classes the next day. You'd be okay with letting your homework sit in longer, until they formed into a mountain pile because that's what all-nighters are for. In college, free time equals nap time for me.  I could snatch a nap in-between classes, after school, or whenever the opportunity arises.

And now, after a week with my agency- napping is no longer a virtue. I sleep really early- around 10:45 PM and wake up at 6 in the morning. When I get to work, I just am always productive unlikely sitting in classes and watch your professor lecture on topics. Sitting is also dangerous, with the ample armrest- your chances of falling asleep is high and usually it happens to unfortunate ones. This weekend was my first weekend off and it was nice, it truly is an equivalent of 72 naps at Gallaudet. However I could no longer sleep in til noon, which is just so strange. Talking about going through a lifestyle change.

So far, I'm enjoying the beauty of Alaska- she's a charm in my eye. I'm also loving my job, especially the people I work with. They're awesome.

  2. I have a friend who just moved to anchorage a few months ago. I can't even believe how pretty it is there. I'm infinitely jealous of anyone who lives in the cold.

  3. Anchorage looks beautiful and amazing! I have a friend whose family used to live there (the dad was in the military and they were based there). They always talk so fondly of their time in Alaska. I would love to visit it sometime and just witness how beautiful the wilderness and nature and mountains are there.
